Sports betting is simply placing a wager on a sporting event. You are betting that your team, horse, dog, or driver will win. If they do win, so do you! If they lose, you lose your bet amount. Sports betting takes place all over the world, though in the United States this type of betting is not as highly accepted as it is in Europe.
I hope Nigerian parents both at home and, especially, abroad are not pushing their children into these sports to cash in. Often, we're people with all-out tendencies to make money at all cost. Some may want to dispel a myth out there and end up exposing themselves and their children to hidden dangers. According to one sportswriter, "people are skeptical about Nigerian players; they are soft, not tough enough and too educated". That's a loaded statement! Trying to "prove a negative" may cost one dearly. You may recall Loyola Marymount basketball star Eric "Hank" Gathers who died on the court in 1990 during a televised game. They young man had a known heart condition but he continued to play without taking his medications that made him too drowsy to perform up to his star caliber.
Nike - This is an American sports brand. This brand has been known for high quality. Different types of Nike shoes are used by the well-known sportsmen of different counties. This adds to the appeal of Nike shoes.
Understand the spread. The spread is a point advantage that is given to a weaker team so that the betting is more or less fair. Of course, there are teams that are undeniably stronger than the other the spread will determine the condition of the side that you want. If you want to bet on a stronger team in a spread of 10, your team must win by more than 10 points against the weaker team for your bet to win. If you your team wins by 10, then that's a tie where nobody wins or lose.
For collectors that have been around a while these three companies have the market covered on all fronts. Each company provides their own unique aspect of the sports card. Each company is not only competing for the collectors business, they are competing with each other to create the most unique, interesting, and sought after cards in the business.

There is much more that could be said. I have not even touched on Paul's use of sports' language and his use of sports as a metaphor for the spiritual life. I have not talked about how sports can be used as an evangelistic tool to spread the sports activities gospel. I have not mentioned how sports should blend physical strength and courage with meekness and love. I have not referred to the relationship between sports and our spiritual warfare. But I hope I have given enough to make you think - and perhaps to think of sports a little differently than you have before.
